My Nails are screaming "Help Me"....

OK my title might be a tad overrated by it is kinda true!

All of my life until I was 16, I bit mu nails. I still pick them once in a while but luckily that nasty habit of biting them has gone :)

Just a couple days ago I had an itch to paint my nails! I usually NEVER paint my nails 1. because I don't have any nail polish, and 2. because I cant paint my right hand very well :)

I have been looking at the different colors of polish at Ulta... here are some of the colors I have been throwing around.

I am thinking a pretty red, a darker brown/purple, and a lighter nude color :)

I would LOVE it if some one would buy me and send me some (hint, hint. lol)

What are your favorite colors?? Do you paint your nails often??

Winter...

Photobucket

Winter was officially here on the 21st... but here in North Carolina the weather kind feels more like cold 'fall' weather :)

We have had bunches of rain and kinda chilly weather. By chilly I mean.. 30s at night and upper 40s to 50s in the day!

That's pretty good for being in the middle of winter!

I just want ONE big Snow! JUST ONE :)

Whenever I get giddy and wishing for snow I look at this picture and remember... Soon, very Soon.

Do you like snow??

Live Like a Worrior...

This song has been playing LOUD in my sewing area! It is always a great reminder to Live Like a Warrior!

Sometimes (ok, Often), I just feel like I am the only crazy person in this world... then  I hear this song and remeber to LIVE!

What is a song you like to play often??

My Top Ten Favorite Books

Photobucket

1. The Georges and The Jewels by Jane Smiley. Being the owner of seven horses I like any horse related book, this book is great if you just like a good easy reading book about a girl and her family running their horse farm.

2. The Bronze Bow by Elizabeth George Speare. This hands down is the best book ever! The whole story is great, the character takes place in the time of the Romans. He is troubles about how the Romans are treating the Jews and he wants to fight against them. There is a little drama, romance and good wholesome reading in this book.

3. The Phantom Stallion by Terrie Farlley. This is one of the books in a 24 book series. I am a sucker for series and this horse series is great! It tells the many adventures of a 14 year old girl living in Nevada. One of my favorite horse series :)

4. The Help. I read the book before the movie, it is great! I don't normally cry when reading a book and this book made me cry. I think it covers many areas that the movie doesn't quite cover, just a great book all around!

5. Tales from Shakespeare by Charles and Mary Lamb. I had to read this book for school and I LOVED it! It has all the plays by Shakespeare in one book and it has been tweaked for a little easier reading :) If you want to read all of Shakespeare's plays this is the book to read.

6. Sundancer by Shelly Peterson. This book is a horse book that I picked up at the library and thought 'oh it has a horse on it let me read it', it has become one of my favorite books ever! It is about a girl that has been traumatized my something that happened in her life and she learns overcome after meeting a horse. This is worth reading if you want a great book with a GREAT ending :)

7. Down Under by Bill Bryson. My dad got me into Bill Bryson's book. Me being from Australian this book really hit me. If you haven't read Billy Bryson's books.. you must! He incorporates funny and facts together. This book left me in stitches, and his writing is AMAZING!

8. The Soul of a Horse by Joel Camp. Again a great Horse book. This book really explains how horses think, through stories that Joel has experienced in his adventure of owning horses.
I picked this book up and couldn't put it down!

9. A Walk in The Woods by Bill Bryson. Out of all of his books this is my favorite!! He travels the Appalachian trail and tells about the whole experience. At times I could read because I was laughing SO hard!

10. The Dirty Life by Kristin Kimball. I just finished this book and LOVED it! A friend gave it to me and said that I would LOVE this book and she was right :)
I tells of Kristin and her Husband as they start to farm.. I am not going to tell you more, you will just have to read it for yourself! Definitely a great book :)

You Can Do Anything....

Photobucket

A good friend gave me this notebook for Hanukkah... And what it says is SO true!

"Always do What you are Afraid to Do." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

I mean.. I probably wont jump out of an airplane, or take a stupid dare. But there are some things in life that might seem scary but we just HAVE to do them.

Every time I see or use this notebook I am reminded. I CAN DO ANYTHING!

Right now I am:

- working on making lists. My life works better if I have them and I stay organized

- Sewing and experimenting

- working on a new business venture. I cant tell you any of the details but I think it is going to be good!

- loving on my horses

- getting all the time I can to see friends!

Hope you are having a wonderful Sunday! Remember YOU CAN DO ANYTHING!!

Escaping the Present...

Escaping the present... That is what we did last Wednesday.

We visited Old Salem in Winston Salem, NC.

We live about 50 minutes from there and we were given a whole years pass, so our friends came up from South Carolina and we went for a visit for the day!

We have know our friends since I was 5, and their youngest son is just a few months older than me.. We have been best friends for a while and it was great just to hang out with him.

We ended up touring most of the buildings and we even got to see a 15 minute puppet show!!

Here are some pictures I took...

Guest Post: Maegan from SAHMaegan!!

Maegan is a great blogger. I came across her blog when I first started blogging, and we have been friends ever since!! I would really like to meet Maegan and her little boy sometime!! Make sure to check out her blog and follower her!!

.........................................................................................

Hi, I'm Maegan.  I'm so happy to be here today, thank you Beatrice for having me guest!  I recently won a mascara giveaway on B's blog, so I thought I'd stick with the theme and share my make-up faves with you.  But first a little about me ~ I'm a SAHM to one little wild man, he is 3 years old.  He has a rocking awesome name, but in blog world he is know as "The Boy".  :)  I am blessed that he still takes a nap, phew, because I need that down time ...
he is constant go go go, and play play play, all day long.
**
A midst all that busy playing, I try, very hard, to get myself showered, makeup'd and dressed in a manner that is acceptable to the public, but I will admit there are many days that I do the grocery shopping in my yoga pants, VPL is going on y'all, wet hair in a ponytail, and the toddler looks far cuter than I do.
Keeping it real - this is me all natural, no makeup, on my way to an early morning 5K run.
Photobucket
But, more often then not, I do indeed get myself put together.
As a busy mama, my time is precious, so I am proud to say that
I have mastered the 30 minute shower, to makeup, to styled hair!  Go me!!
And, without further ado, these are the products that make it happen ~
**
face wash (in the shower) - Desert Essence Tea Tree Oil
shampoo - GUD in orange blossom
moisturizer - Aveeno Active Naturals Smart Essentials SPF 30
(I don't wear foundation)
blusher - smashbox in 'cast/crew' color palette; followed by:
face power - Physicians Formula powder palette in 'green' (yep, green, and over my blusher, tones it all down)
eyeshadow cream - Laura Mercier metallic creme colour in 'alloy'
eyeliner # 1 - Sephora liquid liner in black
eyeliner # 2 - smashbox 'metallic' cream eye liner palette (various fun colors like blues and purples!)
mascara - MAC, any and all!
lips - Jouer lip conditioner + Trish McEvoy lip gloss in very sexy
Photobucket
And that's it.  I've been in a coral color phase for a long time now, both my blusher and lip gloss.
It may look like a lot of products, and I'm not going to lie, I have a bazillion more products in cupboards and drawers that are collecting dust, but these guys are my daily go-to's in my make up bag.
**
And, here's the end result ~
Photobucket
What are some of your favorite-can't-live-without makeup products?
**
Beatrice, thanks so much for having me today!  And dear readers, I'd love to have you visit my blog: SAHMaegan ... I'm sure the title gives it away, it is a SAHM lifestyle-book-runners blog.  See ya there!

How We Celebrate Hanukkah!!

Every year we celebrate the festival of Hanukkah... This year was especially special!

The festival lasts eight days and we have the best time every year. Each night you are given a present... in our family the tradition is that each night a different person gives out a present to each of the family members. Because our family is so big it ends up that every night each person receives a gift.

Our presents can be handmade, store bought, drawn, etc. We light a new candle each night, eat potato pancakes, doughnuts and play dreidel. We have our friends over and have a great time!

Here are some pictures that I took (sorry that there are not more, I was too busy having fun with my family)

If You Really Knew Me

Photobucket

If You Really Knew me......

- You would know that I day dream all the time.

- You would know that I cant stand a messy room, workspace, or desk. I cant stand it if our house is messy, I can ignore it for a while but sooner or later I just have to clean.

- You would know that MOST nights I have to sleep without socks. It is on a very rare occasion that I can sleep with them.

- Speaking of sleeping... I cant stay in one spot of the bed all night. The larger the bed the larger I spread out.

- You would know that I LOVE Coffee and Tea but I don't drink it every day :)

- You would know that Horses are my best friends and I have to ride at least once a week or I will go insane!

-  You would know I LOVE making lists in pretty notebooks. There are lists for chores, present shopping, school, blogging... pretty much anything!!

- You would know that I enjoy the colors Orange, Green, Blue and Yellow.

- You would know that I like to talk and I can be kind of blunt, but I never actually try and hurt peoples feelings.

- You would know my "love language" is giving. I LOVE giving and receiving little gifts, packages, cards, letters. Any of those kinds of things. I take joy in pretty wrapped gifts or fun little notes.

- You would know that my life revolves around my family and creating. My family is AMAZING, I wouldn't be the person I am if it wasn't for them. AND creating is my life! It makes me happy to create something beautiful.

- You would know that I LOVE to sing at the top of my lungs. Sometimes my family enjoys it, other times I have to be quiet :)

- You would know that true friends no matter how far away are always precious to me!

What is one little thing about yourself that you enjoy??

Being Popular

All of my life I wanted to fit in.

I think we all want to be excepted, maybe some of us more than others. I think it is silly, but yet I still wonder.. "Do I look OK?" "Will my style stand out?" "Will they like me?"

If it is on the Internet or out in public, once in a while that thought would cross my mind.

It use to be more when I was young then it is now. When I was 10 or 11 I REALLY wanted to fit.

I had friends, a great life and everything was easy.

Then when I reached about 15 everything changed!!

Some of my BEST friends just left, I had barley anyone that was my friend and I was kinda THAT person that you called when you REALLY didn't have anything to do.

I was VERY confused! What did I do?? the "am I good enough questions" came back..

Then I really got into horses and I met a friend and things where OK, but this friend was 25 years older than me.. so she was nice to talk to, but not the person you just have a sleepover with..

Catch my drift??

I still didn't have friends and I DESPERATELY wanted friends.

In those times I became much better friends with my family and I learned that being alone was OK.

One week before my birthday something great happened!

I met and AMAZING friend!

Katherine ( i mentioned meeting her), she is AWESOME! We have hung out and rode together and we totally enjoy hanging out :)

Funny how things work out!

Life is difficult, it can rub you the wrong way, but if you make the best of it you can make it through!

Were you popular when you were young?? Are you now?? Do you care anymore??

Feel good about yourself, You ARE amazing!

Beatrice

Just Write: Silly Things

I hate it when you let silly little things get to you!

Why do we do that?? Or maybe I am the only one :)

Usually those silly little things are something someone said to you, and you just cant get it of your mind!

All I know is I wish those things wouldn't bother me. Sometimes I forget about them quickly, but usually I stew on those words for a while.

The best thing for me to forget about them is to go riding and let the wind blow through my hair! I pretend that I am the only girl left in the world and that we can just ride for miles.

May sound silly but it works for me. And by the end of the ride all of my mixed feelings and hurts are all gone!

What do you do when you get hurt by someone?

Have the grandest Week,

Stay tuned for tomorrows post where I tell you how my workouts have been going!
